Safe European Home is an installation by Delaine Le Bas and Damien Le Bas, which has been presented many times since 2008. With the direct title of the installation, the artists wanted to reflect straight on the current situation of the Roma minority in Europe in the 2000’s. The installation reflects on the social inequality and uncertainty and centre the mobility, a compulsively chosen lifestyle of the Roma. It is a strong upbeat and raises awareness of the questions of Roma in a social discourse.
26 May – 8 June 2011, Safe European Home? was displayed in front of the Austrian Parliament. In the parliament building there was a symposium and exhibition – titled Roma Protocol curated by Suzana Milevska
In 2013, the Safe European Home installation was exhibited at the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin, contributors: Gabi Jiminez and Ivor Stodolsky.
