Dezider Fertö (1921-1996, SK)
He started to devote himself to woodcarving after the death of his wife in 1990 to overcome loneliness. During the remaining six years of his life, Dezider Fertö managed to complete more than 100 woodcarvings.
The Museum of Romani Culture, the Museum of Gemer Malohonta (SK), and the Agricultural Museum in Nitra (SK) own his works. During 2005-2006, the former two institutions held a joint exhibition Romové na Gemeru/The Roma in Gemer in Brno, to present their collections of works by Dezider Fertö.
The Museum of Romani Culture presented the works of the woodcarver also as part of the Eluma romane jakhenca (1998-2014) exhibition, the Romani Sculpture (2008) exhibition and the Universe Is Black (2017) exhibition. His works are also presented permanently as part of the permanent exhibition in the Museum of Romani Culture
