Contextualisation

The 4th World Romani Congress in Serock, Poland, is best known for the official declaration of April 8 as the International Day of the Roma. This date was chosen to honour the first World Romani Congress meeting in 1971. The event gathered 250 delegates from around the world. The topics covered during the congress included: necesity of Romani language encyclopedia, minority public relations and WW2 reparation, among others.
