Know Mgr Karel Holomek. He is a Civil Engineer by training, but so vastly more. His father was the first Róm graduated from Charles University Law. His Historian daughter, PhDr Jana Horvátová, is Direktor of the Muzeum romské kultury in Brno (essential partner to the romarising effort). His son-in-law is a cardiothoracic surgeon.
His was the very first portrait of romarising, and Holomek continued at vanguard of the initiative. He is an internationally-respected advocate, a respected voice of moderation and inclusion. He is the very embodiment of balance and reason, utterly without agenda, save for emancipation. Able to ignore impeding histrionics by others. His family are among the vanishing few Czech Roma who somehow survived the Holocaust. A glimmer of the talent and ability and creativity lost to Porrajmos. He inspired the term “romarising“.
Mgr Karel Holomek is a Giant of our time.
