The presentation tries to understand the way in which the stereotypes around the Spanish Gitanos were created historically, what the function and the reason of their creation was, how Gitano artists historically related to their public image, how Gitanos not associated with art themselves perceived these artificial images and how they influenced them – and finally, it aims to highlight the difficulty of the task of deconstructing that represented image and promoting one which is closer to the self-awareness of presentation.
