Nenad Mladenović and band perform the traditional melody Turski Mekam (Turkish makam) at the beginning of a Romani wedding to serenade the host (groom’s father) and other male relatives. The improvisatory solos on trumpet and saxophone are typical of older musical aesthetics and are highly prized for important ritual moments. Vranje, Serbia, July 2011.
