Júlia Papp is an art historian and research fellow of the Institute of Art History of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2009. In 2007 she published a book on early art photography in Hungary. During the computer cataloguing of the Engraving Collection of the University Library of Budapest, Papp discovered twelve vintage photographs by Roger Fenton which were exhibited as Photographs of Roger Fenton – Photographs Rediscovered at the University Library of Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, 2008. In 2012 she edited the oeuvre catalogue of Johann Blaschke (1770–1833). In 2014 Papp was the curator of the exhibition titled Chapters from the history of the education of Hungarian women at the Petőfi Literary Museum. She is currently editing the handbook of Hungarian fine art in the nineteenth century.
