Karolína Ryvolová, PhD is affiliated on a project basis with her alma mater, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Arts, Roma Studies Department.
She defended her dissertation entitled Romany Letters in the Making: Testing the Frontiers of Legitimate Literature in 2015. In her popular articles, academic papers, translations, editorial work and lectures, she has been consistently involved in the promotion of Romani writing as a leading feature of the international emancipation of the Roma. Among others, she has co-edited Andrej Giňa’s collected works Paťiv. Ještě víme, co je úcta (with Helena Sadílková, Triáda 2013) and Slunce zapadá už ráno, a collection of prose by Romani women writers (with Lukáš Houdek, Knihovna Václava Havla 2014). She has translated Ronald Lee’s Goddam Gypsy and Oksana Marafioti’s American Gypsy: A Memoir into Czech.
