Dr Zoltán Beck is a senior lecturer at the Department of Romology and Sociology of Education and also the headmaster of the University of Music (ZEN) at the University of Pécs, Hungary. His work is especially concerned with the topic of ethnic aspects of literature, focusing on strategies and interpretations, contemporary Roma literature, fine arts and music. Throughout his academic career he has worked on international projects and was a guest teacher at the Fontys University (Eindhoven) and at the University of Vienna.
Since 2000 he has also been working as the singer, songwriter and guitarist of the band 30Y, which has received honorable awards (MTV-EMA Hungary, 2012) and both gold (2015) and platinum (2016) status (for the CD Best of 30Y). He has been chosen as the Songwriter of the Year (2012) and was a guest performer as a songwriter at the Poesiefestival Berlin (2011, 2017).
He lives in Pécs with his family. His wife is a senior lecturer and educational expert, their daughter is a student at the University of Vienna.
