‘We rise up’ by Jessica Reidy references the deportation of East European Roma from France in 2011 in the context of the continued persecution of and discrimination against Roma in Europe. The story is told through the perspective of the first-person Romani narrator who is volunteering for a charity shop in Ireland. She feels solidarity with three Romani women who visit the shop, only to witness the manager of the shop kicking them out.
